Pigeon Leg Wings and Vent Lump Treatment Medicine- Abolish lump.
The provided image shows a pigeon with a distinct, raised, hairless nodule on its wing joint, a clinical manifestation frequently referred to as a “wing boil”. This type of swelling is a primary indicator of localized bacterial arthritis or a systemic infection.
Symptoms like lumps on wings or the leg area combined with vent issues and weight loss in pigeons point to a few specific avian health issues. The most likely causes require immediate observation and care.
Differential Diagnosis
- Paratyphoid (Salmonellosis): This is the most common and classic cause of “wing boils”. The bacteria locate in the joints, producing firm, visible nodules that prevent normal flight.
- Septic Arthritis (other bacterial causes): Infections from other bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus, can cause localized joint inflammation, heat, and swelling.
Xanthomas or Lipomas: These are fatty, cholesterol-rich masses that can appear as yellowish or soft pale lumps on the wings, breast, and ventral abdomen (around the legs/vent). They are often linked to a high-fat or high-seed diet.
Cloacal / Vent Prolapse or Cyst: Swelling or masses around the back passage (vent) can indicate a prolapse or a fluid-filled cloacal cyst. This can make passing droppings difficult, causing the vent to become soiled and resulting in weakness or weight loss.
Abolish limp is a combination preparation against Salmonella and E.coli infections and other associated specific intestinal infections.
The composition of Abolish lump prevents arising resistance as much as possible because it is a combination preparation.
Abolish lump is well tolerated during moult and can be administered with newly hatched squeakers. It is recommended to quarantaine the pigeons which are suspected of paratyphoid (salmonella) and to burn out or disinfect the lofts immediately. These measures are necessary in order to prevent further infection.
Duration Of Treatment: If the problem is minor, give 5-10 drop of medicine for 7-10 days with normal water or the lump is to old then give 5-10 drops till relief.
