Symptoms
Pigeon liver disease symptoms can be quite varied, with some birds showing no signs until the disease is advanced. Common signs include lethargy, fluffed-up feathers, decreased appetite (anorexia), and changes in droppings, such as wet droppings or yellow/green urates. More specific signs can include a swollen abdomen, difficulty breathing, and regurgitation. In some cases, there may be changes in feather quality, beak and nail overgrowth, and even signs of bleeding or easy bruising.
Specific symptoms to watch for:
Lethargy, depression, fluffed-up feathers, decreased appetite (anorexia), wet droppings, yellow or green stained urates, increased thirst, regurgitation, difficulty breathing.
Swollen, puffy abdomen, ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen).
